The Forager’s Path School of Botanical Studies out of Flagstaff, Arizona offers educational programs and training in the theory and applications of Southwest medicinal plants and edibles, essential oils and Ayurveda.

Desert Harvesters is a non-profit, grassroots organization based in Tucson, Arizona. With a focus on “appreciating the native foods of the Sonoran Desert,” Desert Harvesters promotes and educates the public about the planting, harvesting and processing of indigenous, food-bearing plants. Their site offers a number of wonderful resources, including Native Plant Food Guides and recipes.

Colorado River Rafting:

Our Colorado River rafting trip was truly the trip of a lifetime.  We highly recommend Hatch River Expeditions if you’re eager to check this one off your bucket list!

Kayaking:

For Verde River guided tours, kayak rentals and more, we love South by Southwest Adventures with offices in Cottonwood and Glendale.  Click here to view their varied and exciting menu of ‘Great Experiences,’ or watch a sneak peek of what to expect here.

Outdoor Survival Skills:

Want to learn the survival skills that could mean the difference between life and death in an unexpected situation?  We spent four days near Bluff, Utah with Tony Nester of Ancient Pathways to learn desert survival & bushcraft, and we highly recommend you do the same!
